What Makes Good Art?

Asger Jorn and Jackson Pollock

An essay by Jeremy Lewison on the links between Jackson Pollock, Asger Jorn and Picasso has recently been published by Louisiana Museum, Humlebaeck in the catalogue to their current exhibition Jorn and Pollock: Revolutionary Roads which opened on 15 November 2013. Titled ‘In the Shadow of Picasso: Asger Jorn and Jackson Pollock’ the essay looks at the impact of Picasso on Jorn and Pollock at the outset of their careers and how Picasso’s engagement with the ethnographic art and with contemporary history and society encouraged Pollock and Jorn in their maturing outlooks. The catalogue also contains essays by Anders Kold, Axel Heil and Courtney J. Martin. The exhibition runs till 23 February 2014.
